Does anyone know the average figures for a bec such as a westfield megablade doing 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile, and top speed? thanks!
You,are looking at 0 to 60 about 4.5
0 to 100 about 11
standing 1/4 about 13
those figures are fairly typical. A high powered bike engine or a low weight car, or both, will see upto a second nocked off those figures. You get what you pay for.
cheers, i wasnt expecting much more than that tbh. Guess ill have to go for the busa or zx12 engine then.....coming from a cerbera and 330bhp pulsar i think the fireblade engined cars may dissapoint me a bit.
maybe on the straights, but through the corners the blade would blow either away
With standard R V8, 30 - 70 in about 5 secs - in 4th

I think he means even the blade will leave your Cerbera and Pulsar behind in the twisties.
Busa powered locosts are SCARY!!
the pulsar yes, and possibly the cerb too, altho it is very much a track car for the road. Its problem is too much oversteer/rear end torque!
lol, thats the thing with light locosts, great cornering. Ive was on a trackday recently (cadwell) where i hounded a guy through some corners so badly
he pulled over on the straight, but i couldnt even pass him due to a complete absense of true power. So he scratched his head and kept on going, only
for me to brake onto his bumper and follow him at half throttle through the next series. It was a new impreza, IIRC
Thats why it now getting a bike engine added, and the screen removed, to improve things somewhat on the straights.

so what engine do you have in it at the time?
that was a 1640cc crossflow. And i might add, even with the head, gearbox and alternator off, i couldnt lift it! The complete bike engine (and box) is
lighter than the block alone.
So hopefully, it'll go like stink now!
It takes a very very very long straight on a race track for a BEC too lose out to 99.9% of "supercars" At donnington for example you are still hard on the go pedal whilst the "suoercars" are nose down on the brakes....... ooohhhh its such fun, then when they ask "whats under the bonnet ?" and you reply "0.9 of a litre" listen for the gentle thud on the chin on the floor.
Heres a bit from a race report, interesting reading.........
Before the RGBs went out the Roadsports Championship had their qualifying session. The Roadsports Championship is an eclectic mix of sports cars,
including Nobles, Porsches, a Morgan +8, a TVR Tuscan etc. At the front of the grid the cars will be costing well in excess of £50,000, and yet the
pole winner (Noble) wouldn’t have made the top three in RGB! Furthermore, the third quickest Roadsports runner in a Noble M12 would have qualified
fifteenth in RGB!
Get the idea ?................
Was going to add, TVR cerbera would stand no chance around most uk tracks against a well set up 150-160hp bec.
Imprezas are just comedy on the track, chronic understeer everywhere, you can just drive round em like they are moving chicanes.
It's all down to weight, and not just power to weight either, as Jon says, braking distances in a 7 are just hilarious they are so short, partly
because the straightline speed is low and partly because there is bugger all weight to stop!
Having said all that, last time on track for me was passenger in the Ultima GTR demo car round donington, and we seemed to be able to reel in half the
length of the short track's straight on each run down it on any 7 in front! The chap in the cateringvan r500 certainly got a shock!!! Different
price game tho!

yeah i will prob aggree when ive been out in one, but still waiting for the opportunity. The pulsar was fast, but didnt do it for me as it just went where you put it. The cerb on the other hand is totally different, and demands serious amounts of respect when driving it even in the dry. About the same power as the pulsar but much more torque, lighter and less tranny losses. It also makes me grin like a chesshire cat everytime i drive it, struggling for grip and popping and banging on the over run. Unless youve driven one you cant really appreciate it, as its totally different to anything else ive owned. I guess a 7 style kit car would be the same too tho. Ive got to get out in a bec asap!!!
Didn't the Pulsar understeer a fair bit? The one I went in did (full Group A rally one too!)
was seriously quick, and the plus was that as they are quite small, you could get away with hurling them about and throw em in sideways to stop the
understeer building up too much.
Had to dry sump it to stop oil surge on slicks tho and the group A gearbox broke pretty regularly with "only" 300hp (lots of torque tho)
Anti-lag killed exhausts too!

you could even get a cec and still have a bigger grin than driving either the cerb or the pulsar. i've got a sapphire cossie running 330bhp and my mk still brings bigger brins running a 3rd of the power of the cossie. i honeslty don't think there is anything on the road production wise that you can compare a 7 type to
yeah the cossie is pretty wild when it decides to wake up. it's been locked up for winter so haven't driven it in the last 4 months but it
scares the life out of me when it meets a slightly damp road.
after having the back end step out when doing a ton in 5th i decided it wasn't the kinda car i wanted to be using for work so bought a van and
now just get the rs out for the shows
thats a bit like the cerbera. But its twitchy too, so you have to be paying close attention all the time. I drove a friends elise yesterday, it felt slow to me after the cerb, but it could go round corners quicker because it didnt have the torque to just spin the back out like the cerb does. Is amusing, but gets annoying!
