I saw this video of a Radical testing at Llandow. Radical Test
For those of you that have driven at the circuit these are some impressive laptimes.
It almost seems to fast!
Dave
A mate of mine used to race them
they are great cars imho
I was thinking it was a bit sped up. When we had a track day there last year the best times were around 48 sec (Hellfire) and to knock 8 or 9 sec off
that around a short circuit is pretty impresive. It may be possible with the Radical SR6 (400+ Bhp).
It would be interesting to find out what the Lap record is.
Dave
Looks a bit too fast. He'd also not get any times there on sprints as he's crossing white lines, especially at caravan corner!
I don't think its speeded up,they really are that quick,a sr3 on slicks should get round that circuit in 40 seconds,if it takes your average bec seven 48 seconds,I am the biggest fan of bec seven's but I am afraid there not in the same league as a SR3
That isn't sped up - that's how fast they are. The SR8's are even quicker...
i too thought sped up, but then, slicks alone might have that much effect on it. The time seems about right by comparison anyway.
I know what you mean by the smoothness, it's almost like a lack of the jerkiness of the Actual video footage - but what made it look fake to me
is when it looks a little speeded up, his hands seem to move faster than they should if they were controlling a wheel round a racetrack...
having said that, I fully believe that the radical would be 8 seconds a lap faster than a Seven (even Hellfire's!!!).
but there is one undeniable piece of evidence - that radical doesn't have a stereo and all I can hear is Tracey bloody chapman = it must be
tampered with!!!

Chris
im drunk and i think it looked sped after about a minute
no-ones hands move like that under normal operation, my thought is the actual soundtrack of the car sped up would give it away as a fake

If you look at the sprint times from the Welsh Championship where the 'lap' is 1 3/4 laps with a standing start from the paddock and the
flying finsih just after Caravan Corner, the up to 1100 cc Bike engined single seaters (my class for this season) are doing about 71 / 72 seconds. So
a 40 second flying lap should be 'doable'.
The Welsh times from last season are here Go to
class 5B.
It still looks speeded up and I agree with the drunken Liam (Wednesday nights in Pembrokeshire aye!) that the music could mask something.

Wyn
Watched about 30 secs and got bored of the music.
Put the mike in the exhaust, not the ipod

Hi to be honest when you realise what the driving style is to get a radical round a track it dosent look tamperd with.
Espesialy if you watch the speed of hand from gear stick to wheel and the time taken for the gear indicator to change up it all looks spot on just a
good car and a good driver.
cheers matt
You will have to take the Sprint R down there Chris and see if you can get round in less than 40 seconds,I no you like a challenge
Liam - no need to explain your drinking habits to me :-)
Chris - there are parts of Llandow where run off is non existent. Trust me - been there and got the bruises to prove it!
Wyn
To compare, here's one of the quicker laps I did whilst recording a couple of sessions at Llandow a few years ago with my blade Locost, at about
47.8s timing off the video itself

If you watch both its obvious how much more mechanical (as well as aero) grip the Radical has, which isnt suprising considering they are likely to be
on slicks compared to A032s, and have a lot lower and wider chassis. One of the biggest places he gains though is from the apex of the last corner to
the apex of the first corner (bus stop), where he's about 2.5s quicker so it shows how much more speed its able to carry onto the back straight
(due to aero / slicks).
There are quicker things than a Radical for similar money though, something like a Juno are regarded to be significantly quicker with similar power.
Chris
He's also taking a much wider line out of caravan corner (over the white line which would lose him his time in a sprint), which would allow him
to carry more speed throught he corner and onto the straight before the bus stop.

Wyn
Yep, I take it you mean cutting across the line for the pit entrance?
What are the rules on sprints then, surely you can jump the kerbs etc at the chicane, yet you'd technically be crossing the white lines there
too?
yes. the white line leading up to the pit lane entrance.
Llandow is a bit mad because the white line in places is track side of the kerbs! When I've competed there there has been confusion, although the
interpretation is that breaking the white line like the guy in the Radical is doing is against the rules. We had a guy in the rally car class a few
years ago who was actually four wheels the wrong side of the kerbs in the bus stop! He has a skip business btw! They clamped down a bit after that!

Its not a turbo SR3 is it, I assumed it was just a 1500 busa from the race series? Even so, those engines are claimed to have 252bhp which is still
twice what my BEC had in that vid, although TBH I think they are nearer 230-240bhp.

Its a SR3 Chris,I had assumed it was a turbo, but it could be the less powerfull 250BHP model like you say its still got twice the power of the little old blade, and would the SR3 turbo be faster round that short twisty circuit than a NA SR3 anyway?I think the SR3 TURBO has the lap record for the Nurburgh Ring, but thats a completely different type of circuit.
its ahell of alot faster than my tin top going round liandow - http://www.poogiepugs.co.uk/videos/springmeet/springmeet2006.wmv
