Are they legal in a car?
When riding a bike using tinted visors is techanically illegal but is the same applicable in a car?
The guidelines for prosecuting riders for wearing tinted visors have been relaxed this year. Whilst technically an offence, providing the light merits the use of a tinted visor and the rider (driver) i.e not dark. It is advisable to carry a spare clear visor in case visibility drops. I could find the exact wording if it is required
no need i'm aware the rules have been relaxed and seen as i only do about 1000 miles on my road bike a year and i use a clear visor it isnt an
issue.
I was just interested as to weather being in a car makes the rules non applicable?
I use a Caberg V2 helmet. It has a clear external visor plus an internal drop down tinted visor which has an external lever.
Makes life a lot easier on low sunny days.
That's a good one as I don't think there are any rules regarding helmets and visors in our type of cars, but if you get a picky copper,
I'm sure he'll decide if it's too dark!
Just be sensible with the tint.

The darkest visors are illegal to sell for road use so technically it is illegal to drive on public roads with them whatever you are in or on.
I second Pettff from above (not from experience mind!) but if it says "not for road use" on it, then I'm pretty sure that it would
apply. the only difference being that you couldn't legally ride home without your helmet on, but you could in your car.
Or just be sensible about and carry a spare.

AFAIK the law was changed recently about tinted visors, even on bikes. The visors are now being sold saying 'for daytime use only' on them,
and it is legal to wear tinted ones during the day, assuming they arent too dark.
As for use in a seven, very grey area. However I would argue the point a helmet is a sensible option if you dont have a screen (a bumble bee at 70mph
hurts like hell for a start!) and I dont think any cop would disagree. As for tinted visors in cars, be sensible is all I can say. If you are theres
no reason why anyone should pay much attention. Likelihood is most people will be looking at the car and not the driver anyway
