Wheres the best place to put the mic to maximise engine noise & minimise wind noise
It'll be using the 4Kam low gain mic
i would guess under the scuttle area is a good place to start, or pos behind a seat near the tailpipe area. I think you may need to experiment a little to get the best overall sound.
have you tried anywhere yet rich?
only clipped to my t shirt while doing a quick camera /pvr test
After my first run with the mike attached on the centre console I found it was picking up interference and wind noise. The second run was done with
the mic under the dash. Mic test
The sound level is still very quiet and had to be boosted in my editing software. It does sound quite good though
Dave
which software are you using wheezy
If you want free editing software, microsofts movie maker is alright. Got all the basic stuff on you could need, and comes as part of XP, and its
available as a download from microsoft as well.

got that thanks flak
i dont think it allows you to increase the volume though or at least i cant find it
Not played with it, but theres an audio levels thing in the tools menu. It may not do what you want though as I have never tried.
And if you right click on the sound track (under the video stream) at the bottom you can up the volume on there too.
Theres not many free video editing tools. Unless you can find yourself a 'backup' of Pinnacle or something...

I have been using Sony vegas 7 which is a great bit of editing software. I got my copy from my brother as it is fairly expensive to buy. Sony do a
trial version but I am not sure which features are disabled. Download it and give it a go.

You need a wind filter - a bit like a furry sock over the mic, then place it behind the seat.
I use Vegas 7 - excellent bit of software!

Hi Jos
Here's all my vids from last weekend at Rockingham with a 6db volume gain added afterwards using Adobe Elements. The mic was right up under the
dash out of the wind with its standard foam boot over the top.
