Ring Trip August
Pants On Fire - 27/7/07 at 01:54 PM

The weekend after I get back from my holidays a gang of us are off to the Ring for a long weekend.

In terms of preparation of the car so far I have done the following.

Oil change - including dimantling oil cooler to get the last drops out!

Oil filter

New top & bottom ball joints

New track rod ends

Water change with c40% water wetter

Fitted a 70 degree stat

MOT (even though it's not due until March 08.

I'm taking a fairly comprehensive toolkit including axle stands & a trolley jack + spare, bulbs, clutch cable, plugs, oil filter, oils and various tie wraps, nuts, bolts, washers, screws, latex gloves, rags & swarfega

Did I miss anything obvious?

Apart from the obvious take it easy and not taking liberties (I last drove the Ring in 1998) any tips from recent visitors they'd care to share?

Thanks.

Got RAC and ADAC mind you I've heard ADAC don't recover from the Ring these days.

accelerator cable would be an idea aswell as clutch?
bottle of water?
euro lens alterations?
spare full set of bulbs?
extra padding for your seat???
spare wheel???

where are you stopping when you get there? planned it already?

I went year before last on my bike, didn't take any spares or tools, but then Mr Honda built my bike rather than Mr worX building my car!!!

While filling in insurance details for my daughter lately I also noted that they won't pay out for any accidents no matter how genuine if they occur on "The ring".
It's still gotta be on your do before you die list though IT JUST HAS TO BE DONE (only later for me)
Enjoy.

May not be of any use - in fact probably not much at all, but if you have Gran Turismo then you could refresh your memory of the track - apparently its extremely accurate.
