Just got back from a drive between all the rain, coming off a roundabout everything died at about 50 coming onto the dual carriageway. i stopped to
find a blown fuse, such a bugger i was having fun too, i only got it on the road about 3 weeks ago too.
Just to make things better i didn't have any spares with me.
Do you know what circuit the fuse that blew supplied? IE what caused the fuse to blow in the first place?.... If you don't find that out it doesn't matter if you have a spare or not- it'll last all of 2 seconds before blowing as well....
not yet, too dark to find it, but i had been driving for 1/2 hour at least with no changes electrically wise, it was a 40 amp fuse too the main one between the loom and battery
Well all I can say is cahunas!!!! Its one cold rainy day to be driving a Se7en!!!
It's unusual for the main fuse to go- normally the sub-circuits will have fuses as well which blow preferentially.... It depends on your loom I
guess- I'd look for something going on near the fusebox (unless you've got some circuits only protected by the main 40A fuse).....
big job for tomorrow to fault find see if i can trace this fault.
managed to miss the rain, but was wet, roundabouts were fun thou
to blow the main fuse something between it and the fusebox- starter needs to be-go wrong. maybe the damp enters somewhere to generate a short
in your fuseboxs it should be possible to visualy see an 40amp short anyway.
Tks
ah i didn't think of water getting in, the fusebox is in the engine bay so could be, think i'll add some silicone or something to protect the contacts from water
Water ingress wouldn't be enough to blow a 40 amp fuse.
Is alternator current going through the fuse to the battery ?
no the alternator feed is direct to the battery than a single cable that feeds the fusebox, with a 50 amp strip fuse before the fuse box,
