12v on the red leads up to the coil packs? If so check all the safety devices grounded correctly?

This is my wiring setup for using a fuse box and another diagram without the bike fusebox.

12v OK to plugs, all safety bits earthed. Continuity ok on all wires as far as we can see.

Fitted the 100 ohm resistor in the grey live feed to the ECU as mentioned in someother ZX9 threads.

All sensors check out ok, other than I cant check the TPI.

The only one I am not sure about is the black-red wire which is connected to the start button in the excel file above. Assuming this provides 12v only when cranking, what does it do? Tried with it connected to 12v and disconnected, makes no difference.

Does the engine turn over when you try to start it?

Before you get another cdi try this...
With the ign on (so you got dash lights on)- disconnect the smaller plug that goes into the cdi then reconnect and try to start,This is how i got my zx9r to start
if no joy u2u tegwin,when i sold my engine to him i gave him a spare cdi that i bought when i couldn't get mine going,then i tried the above and away it went

(by the way this is for the C1/C2 engine

If your after another CDI don't forget that a ZX750 works OK,

It has a 500rpm higher cutout. Lets you rev the 900cc engine 500rpm more

Hi Matt, maybe you have tried this but I had an issue on my first start where I thought I had no spark. Turned out to be the fuel, I had to disconnect the fuel line at the carbs and bleed the line of air. A shot of easy start and it fired.

not sure how this engine is supposed to know when to spark but perhaps it's the crank pickup?

Everything looks okay and it turns over fine but you just get no spark

Have you checked the coil packs and leads? Are you using old or new spark plugs?

Hi Matt, my no spark problems have been down to a dodgey connection at the CDI unit, try closing up the connections on the plugs so you get a tighter fit.
