A Fail at Bristol.
The Baron - 3/5/08 at 07:55 AM

A Fail for me yesterday at Bristol.

1 edge with radius les that 2.50mm on the mirror mounting.

An insecure / unprotected wire in the engine bay (oil pressure)

Headlights do NOT meet UK criteria (Left hand drive ~ I brought these from GTS tuning so be warned!!!)

Didn’t like my steering wheel (need to fit the std one for the retest)

Insufficient strength in the panhard rod (needs an additional bit of welding / bracket)

Brake limiting valve incorrectly mounted.

Radius of curvature to tight on one of my brake pipes

Noise exceeds max ( by 1 sodding db, then the head gasket packed in & some thing went bang inside the engine as I it started to knock really bad with lots of blue smoke, bugger!!!)

So not too bad, a good bunch of guys at the Bristol test centre.

Today, I shall mostly be trying to track down a new engine in the Bristol / Gloucester area.

Cheers,

B

What engine do you need?

It was 1600 Pinto that disgraced herself just at the wrong moment.

Ideal world, I would like a 2000 Pinto, but not really that bothered.

There's a cortina in Trade it, no T&T offers might be worth a call.

probably get your money back on the uprights.

dubstar_04 - 3/5/08 at 08:59 AM

Keep your chin up stay positive and go buy that cortina and sell me the up rights!!!

Good luck with getting the car sorted.

Do you mind me asking if your brake pipe bend radius was greater or less than this?

Brake Flexi Pipe
Brake Flexi Pipe

I've one on each rear wheel.

The Baron - 3/5/08 at 09:23 AM

The radius was loads less that that. It was on one of my rigid lines wher it joins the master cycliner. It looks like some thing has presed on it causing it to bend (almost kink) where it comes out of the union. I did offer to bend i back, but they said it would probply brake the pipe and that would be the end of the test.

cheers,

B

Cheers mate. At least you know where you stand now with the test eh. One final push then you can start the battle with the DVLA !

Was it at Avonmouth that you had the SVA by the way?

The Baron - 3/5/08 at 01:44 PM

Yeap, the test was at Avonmouth. it was even sunny

Sorry to hear about your fail. How did you have the brake limiting valve fitted. I've got my SVA next week and I think mine may fail on it as well. Good luck with the re test.
