Does anyone have a Getrag 265 gearbox they are sick of tripping over ?
I'm after one from a Jag or a Senator/Monza, not the BMW version with dog leg first.
Beer tokens waiting. U2U me with details
TIA
Al
Don't forget the propshaft as well.
What you making?
Ive got the later jag box (not the 265 box, cant remember its ref number) that has the fixed bell housing, if its of any use
Hi Mark
Have been researching locost boxes that will take the hp & torque of a V8 and have a removable bell housing.
The Getrag seems to fit the bill. All the other possible options iv'e come across fetch mega money.
Tremec T56, TKO 500/600 etc. Apart from the Getrag, the only other production car possibilities iv'e thought of are E39 Beemer M5
Or Supra.
Open to any other suggestions.
Al.

Cheers Andy, unfortunately I think I will need to make a bellhousing rather than an adapter plate as the engine bolt pattern is quite small.
It's hard to tell from pictures but most fixed bell housings look too big for my engine which originally had a rear mounted transaxle type
gearbox.
Which model of jag did it come from, I'll have a google for some pics ?

I have a jag getrag 290 not for sale sorry as it's a spare, same as Andy's
It came from a 4.0litre XJS, it does not come with a removable bell housing, 3.6 jags did have removable bell housings however.
I suspect a jag box will be pretty expensive as not many manual cars produced.
Hmmmm do I have a getrag 265 ....

Hi
I have a getrag but not one spare, I too was looking for one to mate to my chevy, managed to find a recon one (as new) on eBay , they tend to go for
around £600 + sometimes see them for less but in need of a good clean and maybe a rebuild.
When you get one, make sure you get the propshaft yoke and the gear lever assembley as these are pretty rare and pricey when you do find them.
My getrag is from an xjs , not sure of year but now it's fitted to a corvette bellhousing via an adapter plate made by ak sportscars.
Was originally looking at a TKO 500 but full kit is pushing £3k and I recon I can do the equivalent getrag full install for half that or less......

We have a 265 going begging but it's the BMW version, darn looks like I'll be tripping over it for a while longer!
262 is dog leg first. 265 are conventional.
if you have dog leg 1st and a removable bellhousing it should be a 262 box. That's my understanding.
my 265 is conventional shift pattern from a 635 bmw
