Got trying to set the advance correction for coolant temp but have no idea what the scale is ie voltage/temp

You are going to have to be a bit more specific..... What type of sensor is it, what is its range, what vehicle?!??

this is a sender i have just ordered but i thought they were all the same sort of scale

Thermistors, which is essentially what it is are usually expressed in the ohms/oC scale I.e
0 oC = 250 ohm
50 oC = 500 ohm
100 oC = 1000 ohm

Or if you want it to match something existing there's usually some info cast into the sencor nut.

What ECU would also be helpful, Megasquirt is usually setup for GM sencors bug it can be configured for others by obtaining the above range of values and resistances.

Normal automotive thermistors have a negative temperature coefficient ie the resistance reduces as temperature increases.
A random example might be 3.5k ohms at 0c falling to 200 ohms at 90c.

It's for a megajolt v4 and it's asking For a voltage scale to work
