... what will they actually heat?
looking for advice from people who HAVE ALREADY tried them
they won't heat the air, but i've read they heat plastics, and some metals.
will they heat brick/concrete?
i'm thinking if it'll heat solid objects, these solid objects will start to give off heat themselves?
looking at them, machine mart have them for lots of money, but also seen some for a tenner. worth that for a try probably
but who's had one, and what did it do?
i'm not going for gas, oil, wood burning, or fan heaters, so lets stick to IR
Mine doesn't provide a lot of heat but makes a brilliant working light!
Iv'e got the machine mart wall mount version which i now can't find on their web site, it will heat any solid object i.e. the car tools
walls etc.
My workshop is 7M x 3.5M and this unit enables me to work in sub zero temps.
One of the best things i have bought.
Roger
ah, meant to say this is just for the garage. just to tak ethe edge off the cold bits of the car etc.
not for the house. we got a lovely new central heating system for that
just had a new bathroom put in and new radiator. thought about keeping the old one for something... couldn't think what though
theyre good for taking the chill off the car/,metal etc before you have to work with/ on it. Theyre warm when youre in front of them, also good for painting
excellent, thats what i thought.
so they'll take the chill off the car, other metal things, heat anything (?) solid so it'll give off heat too.
also good for drying paint? i think i might get one of the cheap rubbish £10 i've seen to just make sure they tick the boxes before getting a
better one. got another VAT day thingy from machine mart this week. 3rd jan in glasgow i think it is

^ yeah, i made sure i'm allowed to take it back, as an 'unwanted present'
if it does a job, and heats the stuff i want it to heat, then good, i'll take it back and get a better one. if not, i'll look for something
else
Best thing for drying paint quickly is a hot air gun, only use IR for paint if you need to get a perfect surface.
