great website - thanks
NS Dev - 11/10/06 at 10:09 AM

just to say, thanks all involved (chrisg particularly I guess! ) for making this resource so truly brilliant.

I have just been back to one of my old haunts at the Opel Manta Owners Club website and their forum is now a stuck up, over moderated shambles.

I tried to post a complaint about them putting their technical section in the paying members only area (I wanted to post advice not get it!) and my post was removed by their moderators.

I have now realised how good it is on here, long may it continue!

I know I upset people sometimes, but it is all (almost) meant in good humour, so don't take my sometimes sharp attitude to heart.

The privelige of the free use of this site is much appreciated.

long may the free exchange of ideas and knowlege and laughs continue!

second that motion,

PS beats talking to the Wife

long may it remain free and freindly the odd touch of sarcasm and whit.

Another vote of thanks, though I think you probably meant ChrisW. The light touch moderation seems to breed a meritocracy which is a good thing IMO.

p.s. Nat, I can't remember when you've said anything that would upset anyone, disagreeing with an opinion shouldn't count.

yes indeedy - was thinking about this the other day how useful and full of advice this site it - so a big pat on the back to all who contribute and support it.

What a load of tosh!! Anything for an argument!

Seriously though, considering the BS that you see on some forums, we're very lucky.

it is a really great site, which is so good because of the members involved in it. there are some minor problems (as outlined in another recent post) about the sites slowness problems etc, but really im not sure we all (at least me) recognise how lucky we are to have this place where we can get soo much help and guidance. long live locostbuilders!!!

GlynC - 11/10/06 at 07:08 PM

top site

JoelP - 11/10/06 at 07:12 PM

as a wise man once said, id rather fall out with people here than talk shite somewhere else.

Best thing about this site is how real it is, no BS and no need for moderation.

greggors84 - 11/10/06 at 07:36 PM

Its definately the only forum that I have been on without any moderation. And seems to be the best behaved too. Most of the time moderation causes more arguments and petty sniping.

I wasnt there, but have heard alot of stories of TOL and it seems thats what happened there.

Another vote for a top site. So good in fact, I'm going to ask how to become a contributor?

Howlor - 11/10/06 at 07:41 PM

Yep this is a great site, I find it so easy to use. I have yet to find another forum that is as easy to navigate.

NS Dev didn't realise you are in to Mantas, this is one my brother in law built with a little help from yours truly!

Them were the days!

Coose - 17/10/06 at 09:34 AM

Yep, this is the forum that I always look at and spend too much time on when I should be working (and I know I'm not the only one! )

p.s. Nice Manta - I had a rusty ord 1.8 GT/J in my youth - it was a lot of hassle as it'd been well used but a hoot in the wet!

I consider my time wasted on this site during working hours as compensation for the fact that I should be paid more! It balances things out - they pay me less, so I take a few hours back in a stealth like manner

Plus, while I'm typing away at my desk, I look busy and people don't hassle me!

<nostalga mode>
Ahh, I remember when my Uncle took me out in his 2.0 gte back in the day.... I experienced my first donut in that car, came back home grinning like a chessire cat.

Fantastic cars... Sadly that one got eaten by the tin worm.
