Fan sensor thread

Guys,

Does anyone know what the tread is on the fan temp sensor show in my picture. I want to fit a bolt and tap that out for my water temp gauge sensor.

Thanks

where the hell is it?! I feel like an ant in your engine bay oh found it...

take it out and have a look, it won't explode It might be a 1/4 tapered thread or a straight one if there's a washer. B&Q have loads of brass plugs and one will fit, I'd also use PTFE tape.

Probably 5/8 UNF unless it's tapered in which case probably 3/8 BSP.

Have you looked at getting a temp sender of the same fitting?

Have you looked at getting a brass adaptor to convert between the two size?

Both of these are designed for the job and are proven to work.

What you propose may work too but is an unknown.

There should be no need for ptfe tape in any water or oil fittings.

That looks like a Zetec with the ally thermostat housing, it has two temp sensors in it one for the ECU the other for the temperature guage. I don't think you will find it's for the fan although that might be controlled by the ECU.
