Are they worth the money ? I doubt it . But with what ive spent on the engine there was no point on skimping on the cooling.

I am about to buy a set of hoses for my Luego / XE and can't quite get my head round the cost of them. If I go for the smart silicon type it
works out about £60 more expensive than the regular black hoses. Are there any benefits other than looks for the blue hoses?
i would go for black silicon

No. I am getting them in my R1 and it should look "MINT like"
Leave the bonnet on, spend the £60 extra on beer / pies / petrol.

How many cars are fitted with them as standard?
If most then worthwhile, if hardly any then a waste of money
So thats a waste of money then

there is never a place for blue silicone hoses. not even on a blue car!
with my rant out of the way, if you want to use black silicone, the hoses are much more flexible than rubber, don't perish and afaik, have a
higher burst pressure.
the advantages are there, but i'm not sure they outweigh the price

Standard black hose for me, cant see the point in anything else.. If it works for all the major car manufactures it's going to work for me...
Unless you like a bit of bling, it's not requried..

Yep red tube gets my vote too. I'd say that probably comes under the "other manly things" category
I don't do blue tubes unless the waiting list for some random size hose in anything other than blue is stupidly long.
Personally I'd go for the black "street sleeper" look....
Standard black for me - I like the engine bay to look business like in black and silver. Too much colour and it just looks tacky imo.
Having just seen the bill for the LED rear light clusters I went for black tubes, even then it was well over £100. Ouch.
Black rubber grips the stub pipe better, downside is rubber hoses get harder with age which can cause fatigue failure of the raddiator stub pipes.
I think you'll find that Blue silicone hoses are the standard colour, anything else costs more.
Silicone lasts longer, looks better, easier to clean and as mentioned come in any size, shape you require.
Definately worth the extra over rubber if you ask me, especially if you consider the fact you will probably want to upgrade from rubber at some point
down the line. 
Took a trip to the scrapper and got a bundle load of ordinary hoses for a £5.
Did the job. Just checked them before bringing home for cracking . Dumped the rubish at the scrapper.
