Driving while taxed but no tax
As above really, not received my bl**dy cover note yet, but might be able to tax online, but that means i wont have my tax disc in time for
Stoneleigh. Would this be legal to drive down anyway.

Dont quote me on this but.........
I think that you would be legal in the fact that your car is taxed, however you could still get fined for not displaying your tax disc?

Forgot to tax my tintop, runs out today.
Got a reminder yesterday and did it last night, it says you can use it for 5 days into the new month if the disc doesn't arrive in time.
Check the bit on the website where you apply, sure it tells you there as well.

The law states you MUST display a VALID tax disc at all times.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

The law also states you must have a number plate with correct lettering font type, size, spacing and displayed front a rear, ect...
Many people get away with this. I think it boils down to if you have paid for your tax but not received you new disc you may be able to convince a
Policeman (his system would show your vehicle as taxed, insured, tested...) BUT would you even get stopped at all?
I put a new windscreen on my Defender and forgot to put the tax disc back on. 6 months of normal driving, nothing said!

Since 1st September 2008, you can legally drive or keep your vehicle on the road for up to five days from the end of the month without displaying a
valid tax disc provided you have made your application (by phone or online) before your current vehicle tax/SORN expires.

once you pay for the tax online cant you print off a receipt which says you can drive it
the police databases will know you are taxed
in my old car i got that fed up of the tax disc holder falling off the screen i put it in the glove box for nearly a year and never got questioned

An ANPR will pick up you've paid for it, it'll only be the keen eye'd bobby looking over your car and seeing you're not
displaying it.
Small fine for not having it on display, same sort of thing as number plates and other petty things at worst.
Whole different world of pain not having paid for it in the first place. Fine, backdated and possibly points as you wont be insured if your car
isn't road legal.
So in answer to the question, as long as you've paid for it, and if you do get stopped you're very apologetic and explain, take the
telling off you should be fine

Well its all sorted now, got my cover note emailed to me at the last possible moment ,5.15, and the post office closed at 5.30 so panic over.
