Nice drive to David Coulthard Museum on Sunday.
Hi,
After my first night time excursion in my Locost on Saturday I decided to drive to the DC Museum in Twynholm on Sunday for a "Race Day
Brunch" with the Scottish Kit Car Club (skcc.co.uk). We set off from Kilmarnock at around 09:30 and had a really nice drive down to Twynholm (70
miles) with only a spit of rain.
My car performed almost faultlessly with only a speedo dropout and some tyre on wheel arch action to report. However, by the time we (my son and I)
got there, our heads were buzzing with the sound of V8 and wind noise! Next time I will have the aero-bubble fitted and will bring ear plugs...
The drive back was even better with a Ferrari 355 (MR2) kit and a Quantum kit in front of me we had a bit of a blast and must have been around the
speed limit on a few occasions I expect. I just love the sound of my V8 and can't resist the temptation to poke the throttle at every
opportunity!
My speedo problem was due to my magnet coming off the propshaft (fixed now) and my tyre rubbing issue was fixed by adjusting the panhard rod.
Out of interest I checked my fuel consumption and was pleasantly surprised by returning 28.5 MPG over 143 miles. Not bad for a 3.5 litre V8 from 1977
running at the speed limit (or thereabouts)...
I highly recommend the DC Museum to anyone within reach. The museum allows you very close access to F1 memorabilia which you won't see anywhere
else (inc F1 cars) and the race day brunch package is a bargain as you get to watch the GP with a bunch of enthusiasts whilst eating a full scottish
breakfast followed by scones and as much tea and coffee as you can drink!
Craig.

Are you running carbs or injection? I normally only get about 20mpg out of my 3.5 V8. It isn't helped by me dropping it a gear and booting it
whenever a go under a bridge though

Running twin SUs (BBW needles) with ITG filters and straight through twin exhausts. Remapped my dizzy with new springs and removed my vac advance too.
Running 12 degrees of advance at idle though and on super unleaded fuel with castrol LRP additive.
I was hardly out of 5th gear as it is so torquey! Even coming out of 30mph zones all I needed was a squirt of throttle and I was back to cruising
speed again. I did use the gears more on the way home though.
As you said, the V8 sounds fab under bridges or other enclosed areas!! )
