Deal top Dundee Charity run

My son and two of his mates are going to do a charity run from Deal, Kent to Dundee on behalf of the Air Ambulance. In Top Gear style they have each got to buy a car for under £200 and travel to Dundee not using motorways. They have ask me to set them challenges on route, I have a few ideas, but I think your guys will no doubt have some brilliant thoughts on what to give them to do. Have a look at there website on www.reverse-gear.com and please some comments as they are working so hard on it and if you feel like making a donation to the Kent Air Ambulance, you never know when you may need it, just £1 would be great go to www.justgiving.com/reverse gear Cheers Barry

How about some sponsored laps at a race track to see which is the fastest lap?

nearest track will be knockhill.....

you could have chosen a better destination other than Dumpdee.......

something like Romania or the NoordKaap would be better as theres the language barrier as well. even better send them via tounge and JOGroats

Heck I drove down to london a few times to pickup parts.... down in the night and back in the day 24 hours round trip towings a bugger for slowing the trip down....

On the other hand, the name of the trip has to be snappy.

Rust to Rome
Deal to Dundee.

I once bought a car off Peter Simpson, the editor of car Mechanics. It had been used for a banger reliability article where 3 £100 auction cars were taken on such a run. This one started in Peterborough, so it was :-

Peterborough to Peterhead.

I'm sure picked for no other reason than the name.

Next in the series :-

Kias to Kings Lynn.
Toyotas to Torquay
Gumperts to Greenock

On our Ramshackle rally to Valencia last year we had a few challenges:

Car Snooker using a digital camera, passenger takes snaps of the cars in colour sequence as in White Red Colour, White Red Colour & then clears the colours. The colour values were changed to reflect the rarity of the colour & the reds reduced in number to 8 to make it a bit easier to finish it.

Most number of items bought for under 1 Euro (in your case a pound), so all the receipts add up to less than £1.

Collect as many different beer mats as possible.

There were more challenges but I'm buggered if I can remember them now!

Knockhill isnt the nearest!!

On the way they will drive past loads of tracks, inclluding Bedford Aerodrome, Donnington, brands hatch (at the start), silverstone (?), to name a few.
