bad news
after my wee drive on friday night, i took the car out today, the oil light was on, so at the petrol station was about to fill her when i saw... a
pool on the ground.
Anyone whos done a saturday drive with us will know a certain hilly backroad where its very easy to get some air. suppose you can all fill in the
blanks yourselves

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Got that t shirt.
Like a front wing stay giving out, grounding out a sump should be considered a rite of passage.
It's going to happen at some point
Did it with Sylva zetec somewhere around 1996 or thereabouts.
Took the sump to the local custom bike builder / tig guru the following day and he welded it back up.

bugger, but what let you to decide to keep running the car up to the petrolstation with the oil light on? Engine most certainly knackered now.
whenever that light comes on shut down the engine asap!

well the engines been burning oil recently, so even though the lights on its mostly just barely on, and theres plenty left (sightglass)
the engines actually okay...somehow...seeing as i kept going for about 55 miles after the heavy landing.
a new sump is 120+ vat...

If it's the standard Yamaha light then it's a low level light on the R1, not oil presure.
