Do you need to change the geometry for slicks? I only say this because I was running ACB10's which are crossply and need different set-up. I
sort of thought that slicks might be crossply, but I don't really know.
It is a pain if you want to use radials on the roads, and slicks on the track as you don't want to be continually changing the geometry.

just run crossply slicks with the ACB10s as the carcass construction is the same, identical infact, hence no issues with geometry changes.
Generally the difference between crossply and radial slicks, is that crossplies need near zero camber and toe and are more progressive near the limit
of adhesion (they let you know ) and radials have a slightly higher ultimate limit but when they are gone, they are gone! Radials also benfit from
camber.
As for 888s vs slicks, night and day, similar to Ditchfinder 3000s vs 888s....

I would think new slicks are a fair bit grippier than 888s, but I've found there's not much difference between used Michelin (radial)
slicks and new 888s.
The main difference is the price , second hand slicks at £15 a go, and 888s ... a bit more!

I've never had a problem, but I've heard of some organisers insisting that the car has suitable roll over protection.

also bear in mind that slicks will need bringing up to temp before you get the best of them, also how you store them in between track days can affect
their life. Some slicks are also only any good for a number of heat cycles.

That's what I mean... the reason the racing teams get rid of them is because they're past their best. Still OK for trackdays though.
