Why us?

So, the Gov has measures in mind to make us save petrol

Why, when they continue to bleed us dry over the cost of it, and, not give us decent trains and buses do we have to suffer?

This country waste's money like putting water in a sieve but its me, (and you) who have nowt who have to pay!

I'm getting completely pissed off with this poo hole of a country and its not just the government, its the lilly livered attitude of the morons who keep voting them in!

Isn't time we stood up to be counted?

Oh, if it's in the Daily Express then it must be true. I have cynical view of politicians but a much more cynical view of journalists (except for one that I know - sorry Lis!).

A journalistic translation of "Last night a Department for Transport spokesman was unable to confirm" is something like "we deliberately phoned the Department for Transport at night so the security guard couldn't find anyone for us to talk to then we made up some scary bits anyway to wind up our readers"

totally agree that this pityful island is getting nearer a 3rd world dump.
trouble is, where does that leave places that still don't even have clean drinking water etc

i think a mass protest / everyone takes the same day off in the entire country type of thing.
these politicians forget they are supposed to be working for us

Time for a change!

Spain became the first country to introduce emergency limits to conserve fuel stocks. The maximum speed on Spain’s 5,500 miles of motorways will be cut from 130 to 110 kilometres an hour (75 to 68mph) from March 7.

So Spain have cut theres from 75 to 68, which is basically lowing it to what ours already is? no.

If im not in a rush and the road is empty enough no to cause and issue I often aim to drive at 60/65 on the motorway but i wouldnt support cutting the limit. And would probably support a raise to 80mph.

Tell you what would make sense, push out the alternatives like this Nissan leaf that's already won awards despite not being on sale. If they want us to save petrol why not just place a ban on the sale of cars that run on fossil fuels? Hang on that will mean they get less tax...

Exactly, having spent several years working in countries in West Africa and the Far East I feel I can say with a fair bit of authority that we have it very very easy in Britain. I'm not saying that there aren't things I would like to see changed but on the whole this is a good place to live.

Perhaps if we stopped moaning and actually devoted sometime and effort to working out why the country is on it's (financial) knees we maybe able to come up with a solution - but I doubt it

Remember - WE are Britain

That's easy, the people in charge have been pushing us to see how much they can extract the urine before we rise up and take them out... It's happening in Egypt, and Lybia iirc
