helmet type for track days
After going out on saturday and freezing my head off, I'm going to but a crash helmet. It is purely for use in the car and only to keep the
cold out (and dust, grit, wasps etc). I won't be going racing and I don't plan to do (m)any track days but you neve know, I might do 1 or
2. I want to buy a helmet that will be OK for track day use so what aproval, if any, will I need to look for?

I had exactly the same question here's the thread:

I think the short answer is to get one which fits well - all the helmets sold in the UK should have appropriate kite marks/ACU stickers, but
you should check. For road and track days it seems there are no specific standards, but there are for motorsport (and these are different from normal
motorbike road helmet standards).
I bought a Shark helmet from Doble in Coulsdon - it's the same as this one:

Really helps keep your head warmer... though I was looking at getting one of those balaclava thingies to wear underneath as it is still not that hot
with the weather we've been having.

I find it really helps to wear a neck warmer to stop the wind around your neck and chin.
I bought one from a bike shop as it covers the top of my shoulders and just covers my chin and neck all round.

I've gone back to wearing a balaclava on my bike, It's only a thin one but it keeps ears and neck warm and cuts a lot of wind noise as
well.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Started using my old frap hat from my skydiving days ,bit like an old fashioned flying helmet. The missus says I look a pratt but why change the
habit of a lifetime. Besides my ears are warm and I can't see it so I dont care
