Evening 'all

Went for a blat yesterday and it was such good fun (ie not cold!!) I went for another this evening.... Only turned back home as the knocking sound from the rear left told me one of the diff bolts had come loose (again.... grrrrrr )...
Stopped at some traffic lights when two plods on BMW R1100RTs pull along side.... One policeman checks out the car and lifts up his visor.. Suddenly I remember I've left my road tax disc at home(!!!)...

Policeman "is that your car"
Me "yes"
Policeman "it's a Q plate- did you build it?"
Me "yes, just finished it recently"
Policeman "NICE CAR MATE!! aren't you cold?"
Me (taken rather aback) "not too bad! Well wrapped up and all, and obviously don't drive it too fast in areas like this" (I have a nasty suspicion they'd seen me giving it the beans immediately after one of many Gatsos on the A41)
Policeman "nice one, have a good day"...

And off they pootle!!!!! Some days things just turn out right

And I didn't even try to sway influence by saying how it was a ST1100 engine (used in plod bikes for donkeys years).... Well it's not going to do any harm is it!!!!!

Are motorbike policeman normally that normal???? Ex-girlfriend was French and the traffic flics there used to be so lenient on bike riders- they'd tell them they were going too fast and that they'd die if they fell off but that was it- then it was sitting by the side of the road talking bikes for a half hour with them!!! Not surprisingly, when she cut up a police car @ 140mph on the M1 (admittedly she had slowed by the time they caught up with her and they "only" clocked her at 128mph) they weren't too impressed!!! Goodbye driving license time!!!

Never met a 'bike' cop that wasn't a nice guy.
Met plenty of tw@ts in cars and on foot though!

Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Bike coppers are bikers, so they have common sense.

I was filling up at a petrol station one night in the Indy (after some rather spirited driving), when a traffic car pulled in. I thought here we go, but he pulled up at the next pump. One cop started filling up and the other came over to have a chat.

Nice 5 minute conversation about did you build it yourself, ever built one before, how long did it take, did you need special tools, did it go together easy, do you do track days etc etc. Turns out he has a mate with a Busa powered Westie.

Not all coppers are b@stards.

Mike

I got a race out of a bike cop at the IOM TT once, going over the hill on mad sunday he gave up after nearly binning it in a ditch, but still gave me a wave as I went past

Cheers

Alex

They know when the cameras are switched on as well, I was following one into town and as I slowed down for the camera he sailed through at an illegal speed without setting it off Last summer we had a visit from the local police to give someone a warning but he came to the wrong address. The shed was open and he saw my car and it was half an hour before he left, he had a copy of the original book and had been thinking of building a car but had never started.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

the only copper to give me points so far was a bike copper. He was a real C**T, but i had the last laugh as i got back into my dry car, it was pissing it down and he was proper soaked! lol! It was such an unfair way of busting me!cock!

Anyway that was over 8 years ago now!

But not all coppers are like that! I got pulled by an unmarked Traffic car on way back from SVA! no plates of course! they were both really enthusiastic about the car and we had a good chat. Also some of my mates are coppers, and theyre into trackdays, and one goes to the ring each year. we always have a good laugh out in our cars on the track....and on the road!
