0-60 in 2.8 sec?

got talking with our works electrician/odd-job geezer as I know he's into bikes, cars etc.

and he told me of how a friend of his built an MK Indy with fireblade engine, which is beleiveable but then said it did 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds

surely not?????

Mid to high 4's is more realistic.

The twin bike engined one that Tiger had was 2.8 secs.

The std fireblade bike doesnt even hit 60 in 2.8secs

does a fireblade do it in 2.8? A quick look on google suggests low 3s for the donor bike.

Without 4wd in a bec you'd be really struggling to go sub 3

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

didn't think so myeslef either; I will have to slap him across theface with a fresh kippeer next time I see him.

incidentally the MK owner has longer chassis - about 6 ft 6 tall and had sold the MK to fund a Pinzgauer ... then manage to crash it (MK that is) on the day he sold it ... nobody on here by any chance?

I, once uoon a time, thumbed a lift with a bloke driving a "Sweeney Granada like" Consul with 2.5 V6.

He said it could do 60 in under three secs - with the slipping clutch.

I was getting a free lift, so he could have told me it was pink, had trotters and flew and I'd have nodded

I seem to remember reading the Ison Blade was 3.5 sec to 60.. somewhere altho I might be wrong.

And that was an extremely light weight with a tuned fireblade engine.

I'm sure he'll be along soon to confirm or deny lol

For what it is worth (not much)

0-60mph off a cliff (if we assume no wind resistance) is 2.83s

(60mph = 27.78m/s , gravity 9.8m/s2)

with wind resistance probably low 3's maybe.

Puts it in perspective!

Hi for a seven to get down below 3 sec for 0-60.

It needs an awful lot of anti squat . This is where the live axle/dedion setup comes in to play over the irs setups.

A good setup will get you down as low as 2.7 sec for 0-60 And for the sprinters a 0-64 feet time of 1.9 sec.

cheers matt

Edit the above is not with a bec but cec .

There are plenty of reasons to prefer a CEC over a BEC (and vice versa), but underpowered certainly isn't one of them.

As bugs would have said, what a maroon...

With my Westie (CEC 200+bhp, 520kg) on yokohama A048 I struggle to get under 4.4 and I reach 100km/h in second gear!

Having said that; I find that it takes a lot of practice to get a good result. My first run was 6.8 sec. Hope to reach something with a 3 in front though. Should be possible...

On the other side; I heard the owner of my previous car (a VM) tell somebody else that he could do it in 3.1 second.... and that is a 142bhp Zetec in a 670kg car that needs to shift to third gear to reach 100km/h.... don't think so....

Or they guy in my appartment building that claims that his 'free flowing airfilter' has added a minimum of 20bhp to hit 206CC. This on top of the 45bhp (I'm not kidding; he told me with a straight face) gained with the 'Vortex induced swirl end-damper' in his exhaust system..... didn't want to ask how much bhp these blue lights give....

According too DD1 dash........ speedo sensor on prop so not taking into account wheelspin, but by the time I got too sixty there was no wheelspin,, hoping too get too the york drag day with same engine but slightly heavier car so see what proper timing gear says.

2.8 secs too 3.5 is an age in 0-60 terms.
