First Trackday booked

First trackday booked on 13th October, Elvinton. Also first real drive of the car, not even done the SVA yet! Any tips on how to survive the first trackday?

Take it steady at first, regularly check everything is tightened up.

Take some kit (tape, cable ties, tools, gas, oil, water, rags etc)

Don't worry about being quick - just enjoy it.

Insurance isn't necessary if you are prepared to risk it. I haven't bothered in the past... thats probably a bad omen saying that as I am back at Bruntingthorpe this weekend

I'd not want to risk my P&J!

I did my 1st trackday at Elvington last weekend. I second the trailer comment, There was a cateringvan without trailer that lost a wheel and travelled quite a way on his rear disks! I later saw him just outside the gates with his hazards on, probably waiting for the AA!!! I lost an aux belt...went into York for a new one in the lunch break in my mundano and was able to carry on. Biggest bit of learning for me was the extra strain that driving flat out for a length of time puts on your car. Make sure everything is tight and you will love it.

Oh, and take some swarfega wipes or latex gloves for when you are working on the car.

at my first trackday I had to confirm that my car was road legal (which it is).

if I were you i'd check that you don't have to

done bike ones and only advise I can give is...

If you get tired - STOP. Not worth risking it for those last couple of laps - cos you'll only get annoyed at yourself for driving badly anyway, so go home happy with a day enjoyed.

Yes we have are trailer booked. The guy running one of the last Javelin Trackdays said that the car didnt need to be road legal. Looking at some of the cars that were there, they couldnt possibly be as they were made purly for hill cimbs or sprints! I think they just have a check to make sure the car is safe and that stuff aint going to be falling of!

How much have you paid for your trailer?

I have one sat here in my garage in Dewsbury.

Still thinking of doing it as well, but I also fancy Rockingham the week after with bookatrack.

You're the wrong side of Bradford as well for me to be over helpful!

£60 aint bad for a full weekend.

You'll love the track day.

Get 20 minutes with an instructer if you can.

Overfill oil and keep an eye on your temps during the day - things will get hot.
