first drive
well i took my westy to a localish garage to get the emmissons checked (1.8 %co/ 1134ppm HC)
and the headlights setup.
first time drive on road
left house at same time as the kids were going to school so that was cool all kids looking over the car.
went to fill up with petrol on way lots of peps looking round car.
the drive to the garage was good couldn't see frell all no screen and no googles so eyes were running but good all the same.
had chance to check my speedo with gps on way to garage 4 miles eachway and thats not far out
at 30 gps speed / speedo reading 29
at 40 gps speed / speedo reading 38
faster than that couldnt see eyes running to much??
was followed by the plod on way back didn't bother to pull me tho (no plates or id on car)
so just now got some little bits to sort
the bonnet rattles
the fuel gauge not reading correctly
but was cool for a first run out bit slippery
some spining and drifting on sh1ty roads

My first run out in my car started when I reversed it off the drive to turn it round and thought I'd just take it to the top of the road. At the
top of the road, I thought I'd see if it accellerated as a 200bhp/500kg car should. It did. And 10 minutes later, when I did finally decide to
turn around, I was followed home by a Police Dog van. I had no reg plates, no lights, no screen, no seats, no seat belts but a massive grin. The plod
didn't bother to pull me but I was spotted by a reader of Practical Performance Car magazine!!
It's a nice feeling to know that something you have crafted, works (almost) like it should!!

Hmm I was a bit like that (in my young reckless days) with my beach buggy as I used it at first as an offroad thing. I'd sneak out and drive up
the road to the woods for a bit of a play, no nothing not even any lights fitted (it had about three wires in total ) fortunately never got
spotted by the plod
Fame is when your old car is plastered all over the internet

tht is perfect example of Sod's law. once you are legal, I bet you won't see one for years!!
BTW your speedo should over read.

Speedo
Hi, just remember to set your speedo down a bit for the SVA. It is an automatic failure if the speedo reads less than the true speed of the vehicle.
Best of luck.
