Had to give in and call the AA today...
... went out for a nice blat to do some more tweaking with the megasquirt.
Got about 40miles down the road and smell burning rubber, think 'hope thats not me!' 3 secs later, cloud of blue smoke from under bonnet,
think 'oh feck, it is me!' look down at dash and see batt warning light is on, think 'i bet I know whats happened!'.
Pull over pretty sharpish and whip the bonnet off. Shards of rubber drive belt everywhere and one alternator siezed solid!
Give in and call the AA, wait 90mins for a recovery truck to arrive and get a lift home!
Oh well, easy fix and nothing major, thankfully!
On a brighter note I did get the exhaust changed on my Mini this morning and it now sounds much better!

Could be worse, I lunched 4th gear on the way to a meet that was 60 miles away and then limped home, only to lose all drive 2-3 miles from home.
Balls. Not a cheap, but hopefully simple, fix.

i drove all the way from cov to coleville whilst datalogging and the car was running quite rough, got to coalville and analysed the data and then went
out for another blat, i swear i might as well have been driving a new car!, throttle response was much better, AFR was much better, it was amazing
what an hour of datalogging could do. bombed around leicestershire a little bit with claretoo and then drove back, quality day. oh and my car
didn't break down once!

In all fairness, 4th did go when I was out on a run to a TVR meet with a Tuscan, an M3 CSL and an Exige S, so my day wasn't all wasted. Oh,
on here too, although under my lid.

Yeah, only trouble is all the shows are really close now and sooner or later my bank manager is going to have a heart attack!
