Brands hatch on a 3.62 diff

Hi all,

I'm looking at doing a track day at Brands but i'm concerned i'll be well out of gearing on the long straight. Has anyone done Brands with and R1 with 3.62 diff? Any fun?

On the rev limiter 3/4 of the way down with 13" slicks on.

Hi There,

You won't be doing much more than 120mph at Brands by the end of the straight.

A 2000-2003 R1 with 3.62 diff and 205/60R13 tyres will top out at around 120mph, so you should be OK.

What wheel/tyre combo are you running?

I'm running 195/50/15 r888's

I guess it doesn't matter too much if i'm on the limiter 3/4's way down. Just worried about hitting top speed 1/2 way down and watching inferior metal overtake me

I've never got to 120 before. I guess with the bigger tyres I could technically go faster if i had the power / balls to push that far.

195/50/15's are almost identical to 205/60/13 so you will be fine until you get to near the end of the straight.

The 13" slicks that Craig mentions above are typically smaller diameter than the tyres you have so will have a lower top end speed.

Go for it :-)

As Paul says the 20/54/13 slicks i was using are smaller diameter than you will have so you should be fine.
Bloody good fun too

I had a great time on the Indy circuit, fantastic as you feel the car load up at the bottom of the hill!

Don't knock it, you will run out of revs as you reach the garages though.
