Made my day!!
How often have you seen some impatient tw@t going down the hard shoulder with the hazards flashing to avoid a queue of traffic?
Well tonight a van went past oblivious to the fact he was in the wrong, until that is, he saw the blue lights ark up behind him.
Well and truly pulled. I wonder how long they kept him there...
Made me laugh out loud

excellent stuff. I wish I could of seen it too. Lets hope he had a tyre or two under the limit..

This is a pet hate of mine too (on par with the fog light brigade). I bet he thinks twice about doing it again when the traffic backs up!

Depends how far he drove down it to me, im all for slipping 10 yards or so if traffic isnt moving at all.

Oh yes - don't get me started!... Fog lights left on when there is clearly no fog about, and then there are the idiots that drive round on
parking lights...
Do they think you can see them? Makes my blood boil

I once got pulled driving on the hard shoulder on the A14 at the end of the M11, after getting a right rollicking from plod I asked how else I was
supposed to get into my drive way which he had blocked with his patrol car? One red faced copper!
In normal circumstances I have no sympathy for anyone caught undertaking using the hard shoulder!

Many many years ago, a friend once saw some dork driving up hard shoulder on M25, same thing, bit opportunistic time saving. What he didn't spot
was the line of cones and the police. Police sent him up the M11, despite his protestations that he really wanted to carry on round M25.

I truly don't understand your aversion to people with lights on. We need them on all the time, as it's the law. What is it to you if his
lights are on? I am baffled! Must be a cultural thing.

IN EARLY DUSK THERE IS NO PROBLEMS TO USE SIDELIGHTS, THEY CAUSE LESS GLARE WHICH MEANS YOUR MORE LIKELY TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE MAKING AN ERROR AND THUS
BE ABLE TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION. PERSONALLY I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH SOMEONE USING THEIR "PARKING LIGHTS" SIDE-LIGHTS IN A 30 ZONE AND IN
EARLY EVENING OR LATE MORNING.

We had a pleasently similar 'justice' moment the other day, some noob pushed his way passed us exiting a roundabout that goes from 2 lanes
to one. I dont mind people exiting in the 2nd lane, but its easy and right to merge in turn, it got him nowhere as there was a car infront of us
anyway. half a mile down the road there was slow moving traffic, he must not of realised how slow as he braked hard and ended up just catching the car
in front. I doubt there was any major damage, just a scratched bumper proabably, but made us feel better!

Im with RK on day time lights, proves a point, as you notice them!
I am planning on changing my front side lights to LED's and will have them on all the time, as its amazing houw many people do not see me in my
green and alui car approaching them,
good job my brakes work

Ordinary lights - no problem. But fog lights give off a lot of glare, so are really objectionable when visibility is good.

Yep, you hit the nail on the head David. It is people who do not use headlights that bug me. Parking lights (I refuse to call them side lights) should
be banned as they are nothing short of dangerous.
Headlights on - all day if you like. I have no problems with that.
Use rear fogs only when it helps. Don't leave them on just because you forgot...

While on the subject of lights - I get pissed off after dark when the car in front waiting at traffic lights keeps foot on the brake instead of using
the handbrake.
I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.

Ah - positional lights, not heard that one before.
I have an extreme dislike of people using them to drive with in poor conditions or bad light. These are too dim to be of value to either the driver or
people trying to avoid them.
This is usually coupled with poor maintenance meaning that one five watt bulb is all that lights a vehicle.
IMHO if you are driving in anything other than daylight (and with due deference to our Canadian and some Euro buddies during the day too) headlights
should be used.

Sorry, have to disagree chap. It doesn't matter if it's 100yds or 10yds, it's there for emergencies only. If someone is driving down
it, even for a few yards, there is no chance of getting back in to the slow lane so when an emergency vehicle needs to use it it is blocked!!
Bottom line, don't do it!

Foglights are to be used if visibility less than 100 metres. It's the law. If you can't see 100 metres when in fog, it's very very
very thick.
I flashed some twat who had fogs on on a clear evening. Very distracting so I ended up overtaking just over 30 in a 30, with a copper behind me.
Police pulled him over, as he'd seen my efforts to get them to turn them off.
At the very least, if you have them on and a car comes up behind you, turn them off!

This is what I was getting at. I drive a Volvo day to day and my headlights are on all the time (not much choice unless I put my
'positional' lights on instead), but my foglights are off!

I mean when you are a few yards short of your exit, and can see it isnt blocked. I would never try to pull back onto the motorway, thats plain rude!

Fog lights, not sidelights. Fog lights are pretty darn bright, almost as much as someone who's got their brake lights on all the way

So if side/parking/positional lights should be banned, what exactly was the reason for them being fitted to a vehicle in the first place?
If to alert drivers of the cars position when parked they are obviously up to the job of doing exactly that. So why are they not up to the job of
alerting other drivers of the cars position either moving or stationarty in certain lights?
By that logic they need to be removed and anyone parking a vehicle on an unlit road must leave their headlights on (not that you can) as these are
clearly the only lights up to the job of illuminating a vehicle....
Anyway, back on topic glad to hear the van driver got pulled as it really winds me up seeing people do stuff like that.
