Brands Track day OP 15th April, anyone going?

V short notice but following getting my car checked over at Procomp I am eager to get it on track so Im booking up Brands full day open pit on 15th April. Just wondered if anyone else is going or if ill be on my tod.

Hopefully work will give me the day off and they have space.

It's road going cars only, not seen that before so it counts me out

Cars have to be driven to the event

yeah strange one about road cars. it will either be me running rings around MK2 golfs or a load of road legal weapons! Im hoping for the faster one or ill get pi$$ed of having to constantly be off line overtaking!!

ill get good footage hopefully and a dry day. Im excited to see the difference although procomp did highlight a problem with my front setup.

This new rule is very frustrating.
My car is road legal with tax and test but I prefer to trailer it incase something goes wrong.

There seems to be more and more of these road car only days appearing aswell.

Trailer it to the nearest petrol station then get someone else to drive it in to the circuit, followed a few minutes later by a trailer thats parked suffiently far away to avoid suspision until your on track. Theres nothing to say you cant have a service vehicle with you.

How did you get on with the new geo Mr Bizzle?
Perfect weather for it, 16 degrees and blue sky when I left Dartford at 11am
Unfortunately a broken engine meant I couldn't come to play

Just curious - what does " open pit " mean ?

You are free to join the track and come off whenever you like. Within reason of course, if the track is busy your held at the end of the pit lane until someone else comes into the pits from the track.
The alternative is a sessioned day where you usually get 15mins set time every hr, not very appealing.

well here is a run down of the day.

the weather and conditions were great. if Im honest it was a little too hot as after 20mins i was sweating and too sunny because i had to wear Sun glasses!!

not a bust day, about 30cars in total so driving in and out all day. seemed to always be catching up cars so i had very few completly clean laps. most cars were civics and average road cars.

cars of the day included a spanking new maclaren mp4 12c and a news shaped civic with rotrex, noz and high octane fuel producing over 400bhp. oh also a new 1 series 3litre M beamer .

I was lapping faster than all of the cars. i overtook every car and sone of them once every 5 laps so i think road going car days are a little too slow for a reasonable confident driver with a seven.

my fastest lap was a 56.2 which is about half a second off of my fastest but i have come to the conclusion that maybe my more accurate logger i now use means its a more honest lap time. i think i can go quicker with more practice. half a second is a lot though i think.

regarding the difference pre and post pro comp chassis set up. the car is defiantly better. it gave me more confidence at speed, under steered less, tyres made a lot less noise and tyre wear seems more sensible.

overall Im very happy from the day and a mid week open pit is a great way to get loads of track time with little pressure. i covered around 250 laps, my shoulders ache andmy back is bruised!! its like karting all over again, what a blast.

sounds good.

that's why I always post on here when and where I am going. just incase others want to come along. I was on my own all morning until lunch. friends and family were withme all afternoon. I also had a good few random come and ask about the car because I was kicking their arse on track. including a guy with a caterham academy car. he had no chance of keeping up!!
