Castle Coombe yesterday
I had my first track day yesterday at Castle Coombe. The Porsche 928 owners club booked the circuit and had a few spare places. A great bunch of
blokes with an incident free day(only one engine blow up and a few minor spins).
The only way I could get through the noise test was to fit a decibel killer and some stainless steel scouring pads up the exhaust. It was still 102db
but they let me out and said they would monitor it on the drive by.( an R1 caterham was not allowed out at 104db)
With the pads and the db killer the engine was strangled and I could only manage 8000 rpm so the scouring pads mysteriously fell out in the paddock
Even though the car was still down drastically on power I still had a great time. I have stuck one of my runs on you tube

It was something they mentioned to us at the brief. I am not sure of the reason behind it but it seems to work ok. I suppose it also allows the faster
cars to dive down the inside before the corners. I dont know of any other circuits that operate this way.
