Ouch!

Whichever way you look at it, that was a hard collision. It was good to see that (a) the car absorbed the blow, and (b) the tank didn't get damaged. Make sure that you go to a quack and get yourself checked out - if you leave it too long then their lawyers can say that "it can't have been that bad if you left it so long." If you go for a check-up then you've started the process.

BTW, when I got rear-ended (ooer!) I ended up with about £1500 compensation...

Coose had a claim with his Striker. He got an estimate for all the parts needed and agreed with the assessor/claims adjuster an agreeable sum for him to do the work himself. I seem to remember the car looking a lot better after it was finished.....
I work with a guy who got bumped from behind, by a car that was bumped from behind, by an drunk driver. My mate claimed off the middle innocent party but she couldn't claim because the drunk wasn't insured!
Get advise. And get the names of all the people you speak to on the end of the phone. Keep a diary. You'll thank me if it all goes pear shaped.
Glad you're OK. I wonder if the crash has damaged your axle tube.......?

Thanks all.

David, the tank did get bent and there was a small leak on one side. It wasn't a bad as it was going for quite some time before we empited it.

The damage seems to be mainly just what you can see, didn't damage the rear axle mounts or any of the rear suspension.

If we had the steel and ali and was ok by the insurance company, then I'm sure it would be back on the road next week.

I'll post back when I know more.

Thread ressurrection !

After almost a year of wrangling with insurance companies and waiting for plod to get their collective fingers out, we were paid out by the MIB.

Bloke at fault was a banned driver, now disappeared, so our legal cover claimed from MIB, we claimed for £680, but, since the accident was before the 1st Jan this year[1], there's a £300 excess, so we ended up with £380.....

It paid for materials and bits at least, I'd have preferred the driver at fault to be strung up by his knackers, but you can't have everything.

[1] There's no excess to pay for MIB claims since the beginning of this year.

I was wondering why that car looked familiar, and how someone else managed to get your dinged car on their avatar months before it got dinged!

So the guy who turned up with the towtruck owned the car that caused it? In which case surely he knows who was driving it... He should cop for the cash then and find the anus "driver" and break his thumbs for it.. If I was the middle driver I'd be going apesh*t over it
