getting to sva???
right. i know if a car isnt mot'd you can drive it still aslong as your going to the mot station. but obviously when the cars not even been
sva'd, people talk about driving to their sva test centre but i dont understand how when you havnt got numberplats or anything?? whats the crack
with it?? thanks.

SVA's a pre government booked test same as an MOT. Get your insurance on the chassis number. There's loads on it if you do a search.

you can drive in your kit without plates as long as you meet the following criteria:
1. you have a booked appointment for SVA or MOT which the pigs can check
2. you have insurance which covers you to drive the vehicle to these tests (talk to your insurer, this is where kit car specific policies help).
3. you have paid your road tax

No. You don't need road tax to drive to SVA. You just need insurance.
The only thing to be aware of is that some insurers will only insure for a few weeks on a chassis number and some insurance policies are
non-refundable. So if you fail SVA you can't get a registration number to give them and your insurance may become void as a result (and you lose
all your insurance money  ).....

They say there is trouble with the pigs in Ireland, so no worry there

i know this may seem a bit ott but i asked my insurance company for a letter to comfirm i was covered to drive to the sva.

yeah id definately do that. when im building everything custom from scratch, what do i do for a chassis number?? do i just stamp the engine no on the
chassis or make a random one up or do i ring somewhere and get one issued or what?? thanks.

and all this grief and hassle is exactly why Im sticking my car on a trailer to take to SVA!!!
If its broke, fix it. If it aint broke, take it apart and find out how it works!

You can drive to SVA with a pre booked appointment (normally they send you a letter) and insurance on the chassis number.
Your exempt needing plates and tax under the 1984(?) excise and registration regs, do a search under my posts and it even lists the section and sub
section which covers you.

speak to your local DVLA regarding the chassis number as they all do it differently. Some let you make your own, some issue it at the inspection,
others want to inspect after SVA so will issue the chassis number without it.
