You'll prbably need a progressive throttle quadrant to make it drivable at low speed.

Unless that is an ultimate spec Zetec with massive valves, cams, all steel bottom end etc. 52mm will be massive overkill, and will likely give you
driveability problems IMO.
The engine that Dave Walker fitted big TB's on was a Duratec that was already developing ~230 ( or was it 250?) bhp.

It's pointless. You will wish you hadn't. I know a guy who had real issues with 48's on a 2 litre zetec. I opted for jenvey
40's over 45's on my old zetec having driven both options. Bigger in this case is definitely not best.

Throttle bodies arrived yisterda morning. They actually taper in from 55mm at the airbox side to 47mm at the injector (dual stage?)
That makes them about the same size as the ports on the ST head....
More parts needed...

That was after the bigger throttle bodies were fitted though wasn't it? I leant my PPC to someone so can't check, but though he gained
about 30bhp, so probably started with about 256bhp in this case?

They will of course work fine.....But, as previously mentioned, I would wager you would get better low down running and power with somewhere around
the 40mm mark.

Too big....go for something about 20% smaller...my 48-42mm bodies are (IMO) a little big for my standard engine...

Right, its a challenge now... everyone her saya they are too big....
Not according to Burtons, they reckon 48mm for a tuned 2L zetec, so thats me going for it....
May take a long time as its running carbs atm and I have a set of 43mm jobs as well.
The bodies taper down from 55mm to 47mm. That should accelerate the air and punch it straight down the port. May be a problem whacking open at idle
but that can be over come with a correct setup IMO
STAY TUNED

But...
Throttle bodies designed for a car engine will have the throttle linkage and butterfly closed angle designed differently to be much more progressive
off-idle than bike tb's tend to be. To be honest this is fixable, but I can't remember seeing anyone ever bother, so it can't be all
that bad a problem. Just don't whinge when you find you have to hold your foot on the throttle for a minute or two to cold start it, or look
like a bit of a tit trying to pull away gently from the lights
Burton's probably also didn't have pootling around town in mind when they made that recommendation either, being nice to drive isn't
really important for a race engine

It's the low speed running where you'll have the problem...small amount of pedal = lots of air = lots of fuel needed = lots of
acceleration.
small pedal movement = hard acceleration = not good for low speed driving / lots and lots of clutch slipping...
At least you won't have a problem at the top end!
