Been out for a blat
First nice dry, sunny and warm(ish) drive of the year today Around the coast and cross country roads around Norfolk. Found some more good roads to
add to the list too!
Great fun, very quiet on the roads, plenty of bikers around. Now all I need to do is finish tweaking the MS and sort a couple of flat spots.
Fuel economy increased from 20mpg to 25mpg lol Think there is more to be had yet though as it is still running well rich in a few of the cruising
ranges. Target is 30mpg once I am done...

What a greet day im so jealous! sounds like you put a few miles on it is there a noticeable difference in the way it drives? was it worth the
effort?
amazing what a bit of sun does for motivation i took the cover of mine for the first time this year though it was about time i got a few
jobs done before it goes back on the road.

Yep been out in mine today, taking advantage of warm(ish) clear blue sky's....
Nothing fancy, just a couple hours driving which I wouldn't even contemplate in the tintop. Pure driving just for the blue sky's...
Took some pics.. heres one!

Did about 100miles today. More planned for tomorrow.
With regards to how it drives, its not much different to be honest. I did it mainly as a learning excercise in prep for the duratec transplant and
forced induction.
I am having a few issues starting from cold at the moment, but tweaked a few things this morning which might help. Think it needs some more fuel!
It might well be better once its all set up though.

Man i can't wait to get my retest in April. I remember renewing my bike insurance and tax this time last year and got about 2 weeks tops out of
it before it started chucking it down for another month or so.
I'm going to wait out a bit longer this year.

Too cold?! That's what thermal pants were invented for! I've seen minus temps in mine with no heater. Although -4 was a bit much, even
for me.

Sounds like your really getting into the setting up of the Squirt now David. What sort of MPG are you getting with the throttle bodies??
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Currently getting about 25mpg more to be had yet though, hoping for about 30mpg when its sorted.
Got a few niggly issues, nothing major though. Mainly a couple of lean spots just off idle, which I think I am going to have to tune out manually. I
also dont know what sort of AFR I should get at idle, but anything under about 13 causes issues...

Not worried but as the car is lighter then surely you should be able to attain a similar mpg on a blat to the donor vehicle. i'd have thought
that for a spirited drive ( not a lunatic flat out one) that 30mpg should be attainable. Given that mines has done 7 or 8 mileas and maybe 20 runs uo
to temp in the garage and has used 20 litres then after sva there's still quite a bit of work to be done I HOPE.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

I am not bothered about mpg, i just want it running well. Its not very far out now. If i lean the idle up much more the engine dies under light
throttle, leaning out too far.
Theres little point chucking in more fuel than it needs to produce max power, does more harm than good to the engine and my wallet!

I'm finding that under VERY light throttle the engine splutters a bit. I'm looking at putting in more low down tps bins when I finally get
round to getting it on the road.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Thats exactly what i get. I think it might be a side effect of using alpha-n as I cant think of a good way around it without sacrificing a lot of tps
bins and compromising other areas.

From my understanding of it the bigger changes in airflow occur during the fist say 25% of the throttle movement so higher throttle openings would be
OK covered by a bigger gap in the tps bins.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
