Long shopping trip...
Wife and I went out in the toy car this morning... as we got in, she said "we need a red pepper for the lunch recipe."
So the shopping trip took 2 hours, via Lawford, Ardleigh, Brightlingsea, Great Bentley, Manningtree... to end up in a farm shop just over a mile from
home!
A glorious 2 hours of driving round country roads, sensible speeds rather than hooning, plus a 15 minute walk along the west promenade in
Brightlingsea, looking out at the estuary.
Feels like Spring may not be that far away now...

After two days up to my armpits in grease nd dirt... I finally got it all back together again. (Been trying to stop that annoying tappet noise on
just ONE pot at less than 2k rpm.
Got it all going, drove up the road, the tappet noise is back (The preload is definately correct now). and then the temperature soars to 220F.
Looks like I got an airlock in one head.
Limped home (all 1/2 mile of it)
waited to cool, and refilled, checked, refilled, topped up... and began to wonder if the new head gasket was leaking. Checked the oil for water,
nope...
So went out for another drive with one eye one the gauge... done about 10 miles throught the vilage and top road (several times).
Temperature now stable, but about 10 degrees higher than it used to be
Dont know why!
All this cos I thought I would fix the tappet problem on Friday 13th!
Still Will the bank ballance stretch to a 4.6 jobby? I dont think the wife would approve!
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
Best Regards
Geoff

The nice trip, plus a couple of pints of good beer lunchtime, helped to make up for the gas and electric bills that arrived yesterday...
