good day .... bad day... still smiling

well i was looking forward to a good drive.. but it did not start off well.

pulled into the petrol station and the body caught the kerb and splintered 6 inches of the botton edge for the side panel. i will have to put an angle on both sides and to repair it.

pulled onto the A12 and was having a good old blast when OH MY GOD THERE GOES MY FRONT WING no point stopping the car behind had gone over it

on the way back i went and looked for it and found it flat as a hedgehog

got home and my wife was telling my sister inlaw that i would be returning on the back of a transporter...so when i walked in with a flat wing they were in histerics

still i had a huge smile on my face and i did not care at all about the wing (i had painted the wing stay with hammerite and then PU'ed the wing on... the paint had delaminated and pealed off) .

time to buy new wings and this time they will be bolted on...

haha, i can just picture you walking in that room with the wing in your hand lol

shame about the side panel though - one of those things that means time spent repairing instead of driving!

just tell the wife to hand you the phone so you can ring carbon mods for your new pair of wings

it was a picture both of them were rolling on the floor tears rolling down their face's

as my son got aout the car he laughed and said at least your windscreen did not fall off.

the car will be off the road for a week or two but this will give me the chance to set up the front suspension properly.

as for the bottom of the body i will get a plastic trim paint it black and PU it on, so that can be done in the evenings during the week.

also got the middle son's scooter to fix following him falling off. i've no end of things to fix.

thanks david, do i get a badge as i've joined the club

what do you think lads, should i add some colour (the car is all Black) and get some orange wings?

A good lesson that one, doesn't matter how strong the glue is, it's only as strong as the paint film strength (or powdercoat strength) if you don't apply it to clean metal.

20-20 hindsight is great isn't it

Glad it didn't spoil your day

i've got perfect hind sight

i can look back at my first marrage and say what an idiot i was

i can also say nothing beats a mechanical fixing or belt and braces PU and a bolt.

PS still got a huge grin on my face, along with gravel rash from all the stones thrown up.

Lost my O/S Carbon Mods wing on the A14 in January but managed to salvage it . Only fitted them Boxing day , suspect one of two things either Sikaflex hadn't cured due to cold damp conditions or Sikaflex and carbon fibre don't bond too well? Now bolted on with some neat button headed bolts
