SVA Fail at Mitcham......but not too bad

Failed......., but not too bad!

Ian was the tester. At 6ft 7in tall, he had a bit of trouble getting into the car

Projections, wants grills to the rear/sides and another grill/barrier under the passenger dash.
A bit too much overkill.
Shock absorbers need a bit of trim around the top edge.
Fire extinguisher failed on projections even though it is behind my seats!
My stick on/cable tied side indicators not good enough to be secure. Suggested I screw them but that would go through the led circuit board. So I need some torpedo types to go on the side rail.
Nose needs some edge trim inside where the fibreglass ends.
And last, I need a new silencer!
103.2dbA at 8800 rpm

Thanks to Taylor R1 and his map, the car sailed through emissions.
Everything else spot on including the brakes.

The best news was the weight..........480Kg!!!!

And I weighed myself on the weigh bridge too.
Christmas I weighed 105KG
Now I only weigh 90kg
So now the car will go faster!

Anyone got a quiet silencer for sale?

Doesn't sound like a bad fail at all considering the unique nature of your build.

WELL DONE!

well done anyway, nothing a few hours won't solve. Can't you glue on the side repeater?

Don't agree about the projections behind the seat, should only apply to cars that have back seats. A case of following the rule book without any common sense

if you're happy with bulb type I might be able to sort you out with the repeaters.

Ill have a look in my box of left over bits tonight.

At least they would get you through SVA and they might fall off afterwards and yours miraculously jump on in their place.

I need to query my test rpm because he said I put 11800 down for my max power (can't remember). He tested at 8800, when I though mine should have been 7750.
Anyone confirm the 05 engine max rpm and max power?

Thanks for the offers guys, my head is still spinning, so I will wait before I jump in and say yes. I just need to check a few things first!

well done indeed.

I bet the fail list barely covered 1 sheet; easy peasy to fix.

Hard luck but not na bad fail.

Noise is done at 3/4 max power revs (or 2/3 max revs if power not known/declared).
So if you said 11800 then thats 8850 for test.

Well done, not a bad fail..... My noise test was done at 7750 rpm because I put max rpm at 10,000 rpm application, still failed at 104.5 db. I'm going to try a db killer from ebay and some additional soundproofing in engine bay etc.

well done not a bad fail. We had him a year ago and he is a bit tall for such small cars. Found him reasonable, but he had a strange understanding of the seat belts touching the slots in the seat with no one in it ?
Hopefiully a few easly fixes.

I have already sorted the led indicators by drilling them close to each end and putting self tappers in.
The Shocks now have some slotted round trim that I cut so that it is now a 3/4 circle in profile and glued it on the edge.
Silencer left and various grills etc.
I'm probably going to buy some conduit tomorrow to form a firm fixing for the mesh to go on.
I'm thinking of getting a silencer made or possibly extending the pipe work and introducing another box before the can.
I have also seen slip on exhausts that extend existing cans.

That is truly a fantastic fail for such a unique build. And might i say what a mighty fine looking car it is too?

Wont be long now. Good luck with the retest.
