Fuel economy, or not
Well I was out for a drive today and my fuel guage said I was running on fumes. So being a good lad and having done some 300 miles since SVA I thought
it was about time that I put some juice in. When the petol nozzle cut out at about only £25's worth I pulled it out and had a look. Then I
finished filling and had it brimmed at £38's worth.
When I got home I put my fuel fill details into the spread sheet that I use to monitor fuel usage and running cost. I was quite dissapointed that it
gave me an overall figure of 38mpg.
I obviously have not been giving enough of a blasting yet.
Oh for information Luego Viento, 2.0 injection Pinto (fast road injection cam) otherwise std. 3.38 diff with 195/45/15 toyo's.
Whats everyone else getting.???

my zetec with injection only manages 20 ish,but then it is running like poo at the mo

38?.... quit ya jibba jabba.... the last time I filled the TVR it had only done 16MPG.... Its only a 2.5 litre 6Cyl..... must be something
wrong with it! :p

I'm getting around 20- 25 mpg with my pinto (bike carbs).
i do around 120 miles or so a tank?

I now get around 30mpg from the pinto on gsxr 600 throttle bodies running around here, will see how it goes on the way to stoneleigh next week, expect
it will be closer to 35.

i have a 2.1 pinto with 45's and i have a range betweew 8Mpg and 25Mpg
when i get 8 i'm having fun when i get 25 Mpg it's on a motorway

My pinto 2.0I gets upto 24mpg in 'normal' driving, but when I drive very gently it rises to 65mpg
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

My old crossflow (mad 165 brake spec ) used to do high 40`s on the motorway , and around fourty normal running (bike TB's and Omex)
If I can get 20 mpg from the V6 I am surprised - but unhappy - I'd rather be seeing double that
The cost of fuel is the only reason for it to be spending more time sitting on the drive than being used .
Its cuz I is blond , innit

done some 900 miles in mine now, regular as clockwork - 20 mpg

£15 of fuel gives me an indicated 100 miles. Which is actually 100 KM. So that's roughly 17.8 mpg. And that's an average. If I'm
really trying I can get it down to 10 mpg.

I am curious to see what mpg I get with mine. The car the engine came from was capable of 30-35mpg on the freeway, but weighs more than double. I
figure I will get better fuel economy than my daily driver, but the cost of premium fuel will make it about even. Makes it pretty easy to justify
taking the fun car for a drive.
To put things in perspective, my last toy car was a 6.2L (377ci), camaro that got about 9mpg and barely ran on 94octane. I once burned 180L of fuel
in one (fun!) night.
Other than at very high speeds, the locost should easily out-perform the camaro in: handling, acceleration, braking, drivability and hopefully
reliability.
It shouldn't frag driveline parts on a regular basis like the camaro did at least
