Me and the boy got a soaking
Had the day off yesterday and decided as it was dry to take my 3yr old lad out for a short run to Jewson and back. Got his booster seat fitted in the
Indy and strapped him in - very snug and secure fit all round. Donned our matching shades and set off with the sun poking through the clouds and
ambled in town at 30mph with huge grins on our faces 
Stopped at Jewson, bought nails, back in the car and it starts spitting with rain  decided to get straight home (3 miles). By mile 2 it was raining
so hard I couldn't see the end of the bonnet, the front wheels were making rooster tails of spray and we had water sloshing about in the car
My lad only had a t-shirt and a hoody on poor chap. Ended up putting his hood up and me holding it down over his face to stop the rain stining him.
He was absolutely brilliant though and arrived home still grinning and totally undeterred from going out again in the car 
(we'll take some waterproofs next time though)

I had to slow to about 30 along with other traffic on the M8 two years ago. There was about two to three inches of standing water on the road.
Needless to say I got totally and utterly soaked. When I got home I was sitting in water in the bottom of the seat. It's all part of the fun.

What sort of booster seat are you using, my son is almost 3 and I want to take him up the road in my car but can't fit his usual car seats in

Under 3 is probably going to be very tricky. I detailed the seat I use for my 5 year old daughter here

me and my 4 yr old often venture out but i have a bag with coats and waterproof pants stashed in the car for just that reason, been caught a few times
but he always wants to go out again, which its a good thing

My last ever drive in my old Robin Hood involved torrential rain and a near stationary M8 as I delivered it to the new owner in Livingston.
One of the few occasions in my life when I have been genuinely soaked through.
Hasn't put me off though...

reminds me of the MNR run around the dales
last year. We stopped to dry off when it stopped
raining, I think the locals thought we were a group
of incontinent middle aged twits

I got off to a good start when I built my Robin Hood ten years ago. I put it on the drive ready to go to SVA and we promptly had torrential rain. Then
having got into the mobile paddling pool, I drove to the motorway, got to the top of the sliproad (onto the M60 - M63 as is was - high level bridge)
and then sat there in the rain waiting for a tow off after it cut-out. It later turned out to be some muck in the float chamber.

My lad is nearly 4 to be fair and quite tall for his age.
He's got one of these Graco booster seats which fits very snugly into my Intatrim seats. A bit fiddly to get the 4 point harnesses threaded
through, but once done you can strap him in really tight.
