Will heat wrapping my exhaust change the note?
As above really.
Im thinking of heat wrapping my exhaust to keep temps down. As the heat wrap just chucks the heat further down the exhaust will this change the tone
of the exhaust?
Thoughts anybody.

Heat wrap
It shouldnt change the exhaust note but is the heat giving you big issues ? I had my system wrapped when I built the car and had nothing but problems.
It was mild steel and would glow red hot at 1500 revs, consequently it went brittle and kept breaking. Had a proper stainless system built by
Powerspeed and transformed the car. If its giving you issues I would first look at getting some cool air flow around it.

THe manifold is right above the oil filter and water pipes running to the rad.
The temps are not too bad but I have felt bad about ragging it on a track day as the temps are alittle high. I just think the cooler the better but I
dont think it is critical.
I have got a ally shield at the mo sitting under the manifold to shield the two but I think it is vibrating and making a noise.
I would like a cleaner note from my exhaust and thought the heat increase in the silencer may change this. Currently it is quite rasp which sounds ok
but I like a refind exhaust note.
Thanks for the help,
Any other input?

NA or turbo? As Boggle said, if the manifold is glowing at 1500rpm on a NA engine you may be too weak or very retarded. The ignition that is not
you!

Hi
Can't offer any scientific proof - but I'd be very surprised if wrapping the exhaust didn't affect the sound. Surely not all the
'noise' is the result of the gas coming out of the end. Just my thoughts

Wrapping mine made no difference. Your only keeping the heat in the pipe.
