Cheap Small runabout
My sister-in-law has just passed her test and is looking for a cheap small runabout (she appears to like French cars (citroen saxo / renauly
c,lio))
anyone got anything suitable close to the reading area?
cheaper the better - she doesn't have a large budget (approx £500 for the car), and the first year's insurance is looking like
£100/month
(Any hints on where she can get cheap insurance would be good, too - she's just turned 28 and passed her test last week)

Clio best avoided, Peugeot/Citroen much better bet but if you are prepared to buy at auction under a grand will find a nice low mileage cheap to
insure MG-Rover 25 or 45 1.4 I picked an immaculate one at the end of September.

Hi Ray, unfortunately, her current budget is right at the bottom end of the market - c. £500....

Nearly 3 times her budget. If she had more to play with it would be relatively easy...

Yup! Great car but Insurance is closer to £170/month. Ideally looking for something with a smaller engine...

Can you buy owt worth having for 500? I bought my first runabout in 1995 and it was a 10 year old maroon 1l fiesta. That cost me 800. 500 quid would
have bought nothing more than ferous oxide on wheels!

Rob,
If I could have persuaded her to wait a couple of weeks, this would have been ideal. As it is, she's got a Mk 2 Golf in drag
Having said that, I reckon she will probably be able to sell the car for what she paid for it should she decide to upgrade in a year...

BT - we looked at a R25 tonight but it wasn't quite as clean as the Skoda...if we hadn't seen the Skoda first then it could have been a
contender.
