English live axle and wheel offset
Hi everyone,
I've a Sylva Striker with an English live axle converted to brake discs.
According to you, can I fit an 8x13" CXR wheel with an offset of 46 mm without spacer?
Unfortunately I don't have the wheels now, so cannot try it.

I have to run ET-10 on my 8" CXRs on the back of my English Axled Phoenix. This is with drum brakes though. You may find the discs are 10mm
further out so ET0 would work.

ET46 is very high, quite likely to pull them in too much and rub on inner arches.
Its easy enough to calculate even if you dont have wheels, just measure the distance your hub face is between the arch and inner arch.

Yes, I'm going to measure it tomorrow but I think it's impossible to fit without a huge spacer and I don't like the idea.

Spacers dont need to be a dirty word. Effectvely its just replacing the metal of the wheel thats been machined off to achieve its current offset.
(Unless the alloys your looking at have a different cast to suit different offsets - some do when it comes to massive offset difference).
If you want to be sure then use hubcentric spacers with a centrebore lip, thats the safest way to ensure dead centering of the rim on hub and easiest
to acctually fit/change the wheels. But if you only need 25mm and the wheels you want arent available in the lower offset then dont be too put off.

There are different widths of english axle some Capris used an english axle that was wider than the Escort or pre-1970 Capri.

on my escort axled striker i use ET-7 on my 8x13 cxr's without spacers. when i was using 22/54 slicks there was only just enough clearance
between the tyre and front trailing arm.
