Drifting anyone ?
Hi just wanting to know if anyone has taken there cars to any drift events, meetings, competions or just drifting in general.
Are kits any good at it ? Nearly built ours and would love to learn it but unsure if gonna be any good or whether gonna be to grippy.
I dunno just wanted to know peoples experiences.

It looks like fun but the main problem is finding somewhere 'safe' to do it i.e plenty of run-off and no kerbs etc...
Do drift events actually exist?
I'd be interested in trying it out just for fun. I think just about any rear wheel drive, moderately powerful car should do it IF set-up
correctly. My car certainly shows tendancies

i'm sure playing with rear spring rates could create some interesting results, as would correct dif selection

I can shed some light on this I think, I'm building my car more or less for this purpose (its a turbo charged 3.4l dohc +4" chassis car)
Ok, here's the story, kit cars really aren't liked at drift events, most rules state that drifts cars must have a factory chassis/body. So
this really kills any chance of one of our cars competeing, but if you think about it, its better not to anyway, one of the common accidents in
drifting is getting t boned by another car. I don't think anyone wants to get speared by any normal car in one of these things, not me, thats
for sure. But depending on where you are, you maybe be allowed to just go out for whats more or less fun runs, aka, no tandems, nothing overly
dangerous.
So, long version short, you can drift, you just won't be allowed to compete, and you won't be allowed with other cars on the track with
you.

Cool nice to hear someone is building one for this purpose.
A few questions about your build what diff are you using and what lsd are you putting in that.
I have a english axle from escort which i think has a 3.9 ratio but with no lsd and am unsure what to buy. I have read the best to drift and
occasional track day with is a 1.5 way clutch type im unsure what the quaifes are and whether these would be any good and also whether there are any
other choices of lsd availlible.
Would love to hear your comments on this.

1.5 way will be good for what you want to do, 2 ways are will lock up under decel and accel so they're optimal for drifting. I'm using a
GM 7.625" rear end, they're found in S10's, F Bodies, etc. I'm going to be using the Torsen T2R. Its a geared diff, but its
not like a regular geared diff, its tuneable via clutches and preoad springs. Alot of people use this diff in the american iron racing series. Its not
an alot out drift diff, but I like its tuneability.

play around in
