Snake Pass!

I've been out Cycling today and we came home over the Snake Pass which is "closed" because of a land slip. Its got 2 cracks about 3" wide with the 50 yard section between about 3" down and ramps made onto it.

Its virtually car free apart from a few hikers cars and cyclists making the most of it. Now, if you didn't see the signs then you could blat it like the Elise I saw going over the top, as long as you look out for the walkers and cyclists.

Be quick though as it looked like it will be "open" again soon. Just pissed off that I'm not on the road yet.

Where abouts is this on the snake and can you get a car over it if your carefull. I grew up on the the Stockport side of the snake and it would be a brilliant drive if there is no traffic. Sheffield to Glossop, and then back down Woodhead, back home.

Give woodhead a miss, its full of pescy specs now.

Ive lived in the area all my life, last year went on a couple of "peak runs" organised by piston headers, went on roads I had never seen or driven in my life, off the beaten track, awesome.

This as got to be the start of another thread...........

To follow another reply, I'd forgotten the cat and fiddle. Now there's a road to give you some fun and so if I come over the snake cross by Hayfield and a few other devious routes I can get onto the cat and fiddle to come home.

Sounds like great fun. Glad I ain't going to work tomorrow.

The road subsidence is just after (1mile) the Snake Inn going from Glossop at the top of the next rise. You could drive over it (carefully - about a 3" drop/rise) on Sunday but they might be repairing it mid-week. If you can't get through just turn around and blat the other way!

Watch out for speed guns on the 'Cat though if you go that way.
