Cameras in your rear
A lightbulb went off in my head today.
Seeing as mirrors are a potential SVA failure, would it not be easier to get a couple of small camera's off ebay (£5 each) and have two small
screens, one on either side of the dash but inside the car and therefor, avoiding the need for mirrors and obviously aiding the aerodynamics
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Mirrors are no problem
Aerodynamics don't come into it (the car is a brick anyway)
You wouldn't be able to see the image(s) in bright sunlight
Get another bulb

They had a car on TG (GM i think it was) that had camera's instead of mirrors.

You get the same thing with mirrors if you get the sun in them

It has been done before, I saw a video on youtube of a locost with a small lcd screen on the passenger's side of the dashboard.
If i find the clip I will post it here.

edit:
Aha! Found it, actually a westfield mebabusa, seems the feed is from the front facing camera:

A rearward facing camera will give image the wrong way round ( ie left to right swap)
You will have to find LCD displays with reverse function.

You can get a camera that inverts the image for you so that wouldn't be a problem. We fit them on the container handling machines I work on.

I keep reading this topic's title as 'Cameras in your ear'...
..which would be different, to say the least...

Pretty sure Razman looked into this but was not allowed for SVA, he had to have mirrors
having fun on a budget
