It's probably been posted lots of times, but my diff is clunking a bit when you initially take up bite on the clutch, and when rolling slowly, is
there anything i can do?
Or is it just a case of use it till it breaks, then put another one in?
Also if it breaks what will it do while i'm driving???
mine does that too
has since it was installed
its play it the diff and i think it can be shimmed to remove the play
but it gives a little forgiveness so im leaving mine as it is
Obvious but first thing is check the propshaft bolts are tight and check the shaft UJs
all bits are nice and tight so to speak, it's definately play in the diff
I have seen this posting many times, I too was concerned when I had mine on jacks checking the speedo operation. The clonking and banging on the diff and prop etc were horrible, but I was told this was quite normal especially BEC,s. Barry
It is "common" in becs not "normal" lol The pinion should have very little or no play in it when engaging the crownwheel if set up properly.
Most (even new) diffs do this, just in a nice cosy insulated tin top you cannot hear it. In a raucous se7en, with the diff 9" from you bumhole its a different story.
Yup. Mine does it too. Hasn't broken yet......
