Adapting the linkage (easy to do) so that the 2nd barrel opens at 1/3 throttle instead of 2/3??

It would probably use a lot more fuel for no visible effect if you pile fuel in without enough air to mix with it and cause a massive flat spot. They know what they are doing at Weber.

Its my understanding that the carb is trying to keep the engine fuelled at the perfect level for combustion all through the rev range (ok, I know that carbs aren't perfect).

Unless you've got a modified engine modifying the carb like you suggest will probably make it run worse. If you have got a modified engine then a rolling road would be a much more expensive but better option.

Too little petrol will make the engine over heat, too much washes the oil from the bores and you get bore wear. Either way, it can be expensive on the rebuild

far simpler and easier to just press the accelerator 2/3 instead of 1/3!

fit a DGAS both chokes open together on that one.......

I looked into this last year when I got my weber. Many people in the past have tried to modify but few if any were successful. The capri owners and RS club sites are useful sources of info for this sort of stuff. Remember, this stuff has been around for 20 to 30 years so the old owners clubs have....... been there/seen it/done it all before ! HTH
