Megasquirt tacho output (HELP)

Tacho output pin x4 (js2)

Output 1 set to RPM
Then there are 3 setting that need to be set
1 On Off limit (raw byte or deg f+40)
2 Off hysterisis (raw byte or deg f)
3 Upper limit (raw byte or deg f+40)
4 Output Normal

This is what my settings are set to. what do they mean, as my tacho is not working and this is what i have put it down to. As i have no voltage coming out my pin 4 on the ECU. I have checked and the jumper in the ECU goes to JS2.

I never had much luck with the megajolt tacho output, use the pin on the EDIS much more reliable.

You need to build a little transistor circuit don't you? and amplifier to amplify signal output and match it to the input of the tacho.

Something like this link

I'm also have problems with getting an out put . The tuning soft ware reads the rpm through serial port but nothing to gauge .

Did you ever get to the the bottom of it ?

I'm not using the output from MS I'm using the coils and the diode circuit as shown on the bottom of the page on the link of my previous post.

I think for configuring a pin for tachometer output you should be using the "More Settings | Tacho output pin" menu rather than than the standard "Outputs" menu in Megatune.

The RPM configuration you are attempting to use is for an RPM dependant switched output e.g. for a shift light or a variable valve timing solenoid etc.

on my ms3 card the tach output is on the ms3x board. i plugged it into my dash and it just work.

It seems to be highly dependent on what signal your tacho is expecting. I got mine working by taking the signal from the EDIS module.
