Thought all the requests about kitcar friendly mot stations was a joke at first, No I've just tried to MOT the MK what a joke,
(1) Garage that does all the family cars has 6 lanes + a pit lane, on the pit lane it wouldn't clear the jack ( the pit lane has brake rollers )
so that was out, wouldn't go on the ramp because of the cross member of the ramp hitting the sump by a good 1 1/2" + didn't like being
pushed backward off the weighing/braking pads
garage 2 same thing with the ramp, brake rollers grounded front and rear
garage 3/4/5/6 similar thing
garage 7 I'd forgotten about these guys. they have a scissor lift so it's ground level, had to lift front of car by 1/4" to get the
jack under the sump to get to the back end, brake rollers again not really an issue.
Success some 4 hrs after leaving the house it's got it's 1st MOT
word of warning ! don't assume that because it's got nylocs they won't come loose,
bottom front ball joint was loose the 2 bolts that hold it to the bottom wishbone had backed off, left hand trackrod end again the nut had backed off
only by about a turn but enough to give the impression the joint had failed, quick nip bup with a spanner and all was good.
Job for tomorrow remove all nut covers and check all nuts and bolts.
My recommendation for kitcar friendly on the Wirral.... Durley Garage, Prenton Way, North Cheshire Trading Estate, CH43 3DU. Junction 3 M53
