Best - Turbo.
Cheapest - fit second hand slicks £15 a corner.
Cleverest - doh! struggle with this one as nothing really clever about it.
Worst - Built to to book dimensions then added the cage on top, should have incorporated the cage in the frame.

Best - V6 !
Cheapest - T1R's at £34 a corner , fitted
Cleverest - getting the Mazda V6 to fit to an Mx5 gearbox
Worst - Intatrim Oddessy's - cripplingly uncomfortable after more than two hours on the road

Best- my upgrade to a ZX12 lump
Cheapest - all my carbon fibre parts (and all the spare material I have), plus moulds - all free from the scrap bin at work
Cleverest - Homemade 'big-head' fasteners that work brilliantly to hold my wheel arches (no bolts visible) and hold the fog light in place (also one of my cleverest moments during the build as I love the way I mounted it)
Worst - fixing the number plates as a gauge to check I could get over a speed bump (level with lowest part of engine) - it lasted 2 days!

Some good ideas here! Anyone else?

Worst- trying to fit a zetec instead of the crossflow. I haven't driven it all summer!

Will be ace when I pull my finger out and get it done though....

Best: fitting the £150 Pug V6 engine
Cheapest: custom made clutch plate for £25
Cleverest: getting the Pug V6 to hang off the front of the Type 9 gearbox
Worst Idea: putting all the above into a crap car

Benzine - 14/9/12 at 06:01 PM

Cheapest: Having a car in bits for 5 years, huge savings on insurance, tax and fuel!
Worst Idea: Driving without a hat/bandanna with long hair. Over 9000 tangles.
Best/Cleverest: erm, maybe I'll have one of those one day!

Not sure if any of this is a good idea, as not finished, but here goes

Best, giving an engine transplant to a reliant kitten, light and no iva.
Cheapest, Don’t get me wrong as this won’t be a cheap build, but off to a good start.
1, Donor car Reliant kitten paid for itself when I sold engine, box, and axle.
2, Bought full 2007 s2000 and broke it for more than I paid, lots of hassle, but got my engine, box and loom plus all clocks relays and switch gear for my build foc.
3, Got cheap live axle with LSD for less than £500 108 pcd, light and mega strong (alfa Julia 105), where Atlas would have been a couple of grand or three plus some.
4, Was gonna dry sump, but have altered a standard one, its cost a bit, about £130 with baffle, welding and sheet alloy and still need it skimmed, but done it so hope its gonna be ok.
Cleverest, No still can’t think of anything clever about this project.
Worst, The wife has just told me “Buying a reliant Kitten” good job she has a good sense of humour.
